Today, following an era during which multiplying cheap hardware in data centers was considered the solution to providing further services, IT managements are becoming increasingly interested in rationalizing their administration, electrical and hosting bills by limiting the amount of servers in their IT departements. Additionnaly, reducing their carbon footprint also appeals more and more industries.

Paravirtualization is a technology which provides solutions to these exact concerns, by making it feasible to host multiple Operating Systems on a single server hardware, while keeping an extremely low overhead of resources required by the emulation, compared to other virtualization technologies.
Alveox Services: externalise part of your servers
Your company hosts mission critical servers ? Externalising some of them, ie hosting them at a remote location, is interesting in many aspects.

We offer paravirtualized environments on our servers, your company having full access to the Operating System for installing software and data. You may choose to administer them, or we can provide this service.

Externalising your DMZ

Your DMZ, or demilitarized zone, is in theory a subnet within your company, on which you authorise access from the Internet. However, even though the layer 2 (Ex: distinct Ethernet subnets) separation is usually well implemented, it is hardly the case at the 3rd layer (Ex: IP firewalls allowing some flows to enter your local, production network).

Nowadays, large companies DMZ are often attacked, to gain later access to production networks.

Externalising your DMZ servers (web, dns, mail, ...) answers first and foremost to this requirement of separating physically the two types of networks. Another advantage is to free part of the bandwidth, from your company Internet access.

Your servers handle essential data, critical to the correct functionning of your company.

Do not take the risk to loose it, in case of natural disaster, or any potential problem that may affect your servers such as theft, hard disk crashes. Daily externalisation of your data insures the continuity of your production, should such a case occur, affecting your local network.
